Anders Lindahl Research Group

Research in Molecular Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine

Contact InformationList of PublicationsWebsite

The research group is focused on the molecular and cellular aspects of cartilage and heart cell regeneration.

The work was initiated in the 1980s with the development of the Autologous Chondrocyte Transplantation (ACT) technology for cartilage injuries that so far has resulted in the treatment of over 15000 patients world wide.

Beside the clinical program in cartilage regeneration, work on identifying human heart progenitor cells was initiated in 2005. The research work is focused on isolating stem cells, determining the phenotype and further developing cell treatment schemes for patients. There is also ongoing research with the aim to identify signal transduction pathways that control stem cell differentiation in order to actively search for new drug targets that could potentially facilitate stem cell response to tissue injuries.
