Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases and Hospital-Acquired Infections - Autumn 2020

The third semester will be devoted to hands-on aspects of communicable disease prevention and control, as well as prevention of infections within health and social care systems. Nordic legislations that regulate these aspects will be detailed. You will gain the tools to surveil notifiable and hospital-related infections and antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and to prevent and control infectious disease outbreaks. You will also work on your skills to communicate, initiate and manage improvements

Prerequisites

  • You need the knowledge from the first and second courses in this program, or equivalent knowledge.
     
  • You may apply for this course if you are a nordic health care professional, e.g. doctor, nurse, dentist or biomedical laboratory technician, and have at least two years of working experience. Note that a prerequisite is that the employer is willing to pay the course fee.
     
  • You also need the following language skills: In Sweden - English B/English 6, Swedish B/Svenska 3, other Nordic countries: equivalent level.
     
  • If you which to attend this course and receive 15 credits for it, you need to have a preveious Bachelor's degree or equivalent in biology, nursing, dentistry, medicine, biomedical laboratory science, veterinary medicine.
