    [26 Mar 2018] An international research consortium studying 520,000 individuals from around the world has identified 22 new genetic risk factors for stroke, thus tripling the number of gene regions known to affect stroke risk.   • RNA-based therapy cures lung cancer in mouse models

    [2 Mar 2018] By turning down the activity of a specific, so-called RNA molecule, researchers at Sahlgrenska Academy have cured lung tumors in mice by 40-50 percent. The results, published in Nature Communications, represent the tip of the iceberg in an extensive research project in which 633 new biomarkers for 14 types of cancer have been identified.

  • New antibiotic resistance genes found

    [16 Oct 2017] Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg have found several previously unknown genes that make bacteria resistant to last-resort antibiotics. The genes were found by searching large volumes of bacterial DNA and are published in the scientific journal Microbiome.
