About Rune Andersson

Professor in Global Health at Sahlgrenska Academy, Gothenburg University from September  2010 and
Senior physician on Hospital Infection Control at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg from January 2011.
He is specialist in internal medicine, general medicine and  infectious diseases.

Ph.D. in Infectious Diseases, 1988. Thesis : ” Giant cell arteritis- immunopatology, long-term corticosteroid treatment and mortality”.

Associate professor in Infectious Diseases 1992

Professor in Infectious Diseases at the Sahlgrenska Academy 2002 - 2010.

Guest professor in Contagious Diseases at Xinjiang Medical University, Urumqi, China from 2005.

Main supervisor for 4 PhD students with passed exams:  Harriet Hogevik 1996 on endocarditis, Christopher Schaufelbrger, 1997 on giant cell arteritis and Gunnar Jacobsson, 2009 on invasive Stafylococcus aureus infections, Erik Backhaus 2012 on Invasive pneumococcal infections.
Co-supervisor  for 5 PhD students with passed exams: Maria Werner, 2006 on endocarditis, Ulrika Snygg Martin, 2009 on endocarditis, Eric Gustafsson, 2009 on Stafylococcus aureus infections, Diana Karlsson 2010 on pneumococcal infections and Åsa Alsiö on Hepatitis C.
Supervisor for 116 medical students in diploma courses with passed exams.
